Willie Nelson was the first major hit who had his concert February 13th at Moody Theater. Through his life, he has written more than 2,500 songs and has released close to 300 albums. He is not scheduled to play anytime soon at the theater but has plans to return in 2012.
The Moody Theater loves it’s new home in the W Austin. The W Austin Hotel and Residences stands 37 stories tall and opened in December of last year. It is currently the 4th tallest building in Austin, Texas. As of now, there are 250 hotel units and 159 condominiums that can be purchased.
Austin City Limits is now hosted in Moody Theater which is an American public television music program and is recorded by PBS in Austin, Texas. This is one of the main reasons that sparked Austin being known as the Live Music Capital of the World and is the only show to receive the National Medal of Arts.
ACL first started out as Texan music such as blues, Tejano, and country but now it features artists from the world abroad. With ACL being so popular, it allowed for the creation of Austin City Limits Music Festival which is held yearly at Zilker Park.
On the 26th of Februrary, Austin City Limits held its first taping in Moody Theater. Every concert or theater event since it’s opening has been close to full capacity.
